TWH – The Global Wicca Summit begins Monday at 6:30 PM CT. According to the event page, the summit is “a cyberconference, utilizing a series of resources, including live broadcasts, video and audio, allowing anyone, anywhere to participate. Localities may have physical meetings as well, to share the online resources. Through this sharing of resources, we want to reach Wiccans worldwide, to have a discussion of the state of the Wicca in the world.” Organizers say that the central question is: “Is Wicca a global faith?”
Organized by Witch School International, the event will open with a welcome by Rev. Don Lewis followed by a prayer and ritual by Rev. Stephanie. The evening will continue with interviews and lectures, all broadcast over various forms of digital media, and the summit will be ongoing until September 10. The schedule is posted on The Daily Spell website. Guest speakers include Rev. Selena Fox, Rev. Apu Adman Aghama, Jason Mankey, Phyllis Curott, Arch Priestess Belladonna Laveau, Oberon Zell, Rev. Ebils Correllian HP, Rev. Ayra Alseret and more.

TWH – Wiccan Together, a social media site devoted to the Wiccan community, recently announced its return. The site, which boasted 74,635 members as of August 2018, had shut its doors in July 2017. According to various sources, the original creator, who is reportedly named Eric, shut the site down. However, six months later, he and another party decided to do a re-launch and hand the project over to a new administrator. The site was then relaunched September 2 with a message from the new owner, “We are officially back online. I am the new creator of the site. I thought I’d let you know, we haven’t gone away.”
However, Wiccantogether.net is not available. Two days after opening, it was back offline. The link now leads to a starseeds.net chat board in which the new owner explains that the site is back down. The new owner claims that Eric, the previous owner, changed his mind on their deal, and is “creating drama.” The post reads, “He told Ning he wanted the site removed for good without any exceptions.” The new owner said that they redirected the URL to starseeds.net “so [users] can keep in touch while we figure out whose[sic] in the right.” Nothing more has been posted after that. We will have more details on this story in the coming weeks.

Spiral goddesses [A Willowroot].
TWH – September 2 marked World Goddess Day, the 5th annual celebration of its kind. The event was started by Brazilian author Claudiney Prieto in 2014. “The goal of the World Goddess Day project is to grant to the Goddess one day of visibility to share her many myths, stories and worshiping diversity, so everyone will remember or will realize that the first religion of humanity was the worship of the Goddess,” according to the web site. Around the globe, Pagans and others have been celebrated the day in different ways, from pot luck dinners, rituals, private gatherings and public events.
Prieto himself told TWH in 2014, “Nowdays, in a staggered society impaired by centuries of patriarchy, heteronormativity and sexism, the Goddess is considered by many people the only way to reunite ourselves with the true Self, with our most inner Self. She is the only way to get rid of so many years of oppression that only brought differences, prejudices and wars … So a World Goddess Day has never been such necessary as now!” Project organizers chose September because it is the ninth month of the year. As Prieto explains, “The number nine is one of the most sacred to the Goddess.” World Goddess Day will always be celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. World Goddess Day 2019 will take place on Sept. 7.

- In 2017 Kansas City Pagan community donated funds to place a brick on the Walk of Honor near the entrance of the National WWI Museum and Memorial. That brick, along with those from other organizations and individuals, will be dedicated on Veterans Day 2018. The fund drive was organized by the board of Kansas City Pagan Pride Day. The dedication ceremony is scheduled for November 11 at 2pm in the J.C. Nichols Auditorium located inside the National World War I Museum and Memorial.
- Segomâros Widugeni announced that his first book is now published. Widugeni, who was recently a guest writer for The Wild Hunt, is a leader in the Gaulish polytheist communities. That is the topic of his new book Ancient Fire: An Introduction to Gaulish Celtic Polytheism. As described on Amazon, “The book explores not only the hearth culture prevalent in Gaul but also introduces the reader to Gaulish deities and modern devotional practice.”
- Cherry Hill Seminary is sharing two travel opportunities for those interested in history, culture, and spiritual life in eastern Europe. In May and June 2019, history professor Michael Strmiska of SUNY-Orange is planning a tour of Baltic states Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia. Then in July 2019, Strmiska is organizing a tour through Poland and the Ukraine. More information is available on the website Religious Heritage Tours.
- Magical Mountain Mabon begins Sept. 6 in New Mexico. This annual event is hosted by Chamisa Local Council of Covenant of the Goddess. It is held in the Manzano Mountains and is billed as a “weekend of musical magic.” This year’s theme is “The Journey of Persephone,” and it features guest musician Wendy Rule. Magical Mountain Mabon takes place over four days and is one of the few Pagan festivals in that region.
