Now, everyone knows a Jack tale. There’s the one about the beanstalk, sure, and most have heard a story or two about him in one of his many run-ins with the devil. The details change, but the man is the same.
The critics unleashed their hate on Bailey playing the little mermaid because they claim Disney has violated the integrity of the source material. No. It’s because they’re racists.
Looking back, although as a child I loved the stories of the Greek gods, although my mother told me about the Egyptian myths, although in my adolescence I leaned towards the Celts, I found my place among La Llorona, El Silbón, Los Momoyes, Juan Hilario, El Hachador Perdido, María Lionza, La Sayona, and many more.
