Writing as Witchcraft

My dad used to say he meditated by painting. I say I meditate by writing, but it’s not only that. I write to find a connection with something higher, bigger than myself, a purpose and a passion that makes me feel alive. Writing is the first and foremost manifestation of Witchcraft for me.

Coyote

The archetype I was most interested in was the trickster. Coyote was certainly one of those – and I loved the few stories that I knew about him. Anyone who gave fire to humans was a friend of mine. It took me a while to realize this was not exactly true.

I recall celebrating my first Star Wars marathon in a small Parisian theater filled with strangers willing to give up a Friday night. Some arrived in costume, others brought  blankets for young children, and a few had enjoyed an early dinner. From 7:30 in the evening until dawn, our group cheered, laughed, and honored the strongest moments with silence.
