The world is a dumpster fire. Not a day goes by that we aren’t subjected to the horrors of war, of greed, and apathy. The guardrails of democracy are steadily melting away and the wheels of this clown car of a country just detached and rolled off down the road. (So much for American ingenuity.) The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and, honestly, it’s just so hard, man.
Yes, the world is indeed a dumpster fire. So, why not channel that fire into something positive? Like fresh baked oatmeal-raisin cookies? And bonus points if those cookies are also a money spell. Hey, tough times require magic cookies. (Don’t question me.)

I originally created this spell-recipe over 20 years ago. It has certainly helped me when times have gotten tough. Especially now, with no end to rising prices in sight, I think most of us could use a bit of a financial boost. I think the time is right to dust off its spell and offer it here to you, my Wild Hunt readers. May it bring you prosperity, abundance, happiness, or at least a bit of a reprieve from the doomscrolling.

Begin by performing a grounding and centering exercise. (This is still Witchcraft, after all.) Light your working candle with whatever prayer you feel is appropriate. You bake between the worlds.
On your paper, write the exact amount of money that you are aiming for. Don’t be greedy, but don’t sell yourself short, either. How much do you need? What amount would bring balance back to your finances? Fold the paper toward yourself and place it under the green or gold candle. Arrange the 13 quarters in a circle around them, placing them in a clockwise direction (counterclockwise for those “down under”).
From the flame of the working candle, light the incense and then the green (or gold) candle with the prayer:
“By the Fire of my Will,
That bakes these cookies and the crumbs,
Cash and coins my pockets fill,
Like moth to flame the money comes.”
(Hey, I never promised you Shakespeare.)
Meditate for a moment on the feeling of money coming in from various sources. See yourself healthy, happy, and financially stable. When you feel this sensation strongly, imagine that it is like a fire that is burning within you. Feel how it radiates from you in waves, like heat. Heat your oven to 350°F and feel that some of your internal power is being transferred to it.
In a mixing bowl, beat together butter and sugars until creamy while maintaining the presence of your internal fire.
Holding the eggs, focus your intent on abundance. Know how eggs are a symbol of ultimate potential and feel how their addition to the spell brings that potential closer to you. Allow your power to flow into each egg. “See” them shining and crackling with power. Feel them vibrating in your hands.
Add eggs to your mixture along with the vanilla; beat together until smooth.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour and the baking soda. Pour the salt into your power hand and feel how it is an agent of purification and cleansing. Will your power into it, feeling it shine with purity, and add it to the mixture.
Take the cinnamon and feel how it is an herb of fire; how it lends power and energy to your spell. Cinnamon is excellent for prosperity, and healing spell, but also for love, lust, and success. Feel how it not only represents these concepts, but that it is these concepts manifested in the physical. Feel your internal fire merging with it and then sprinkle the cinnamon into the bowl of flour, soda, and salt in the shape of a dollar sign. Feel how the presence of financial abundance is a part of your working. Mix together clockwise (again, you southerners reverse this) and feel this power is becoming permanently ingrained in the mixture; each turn of your spoon is an invocation. When it is complete, add it to the dough in your mixing bowl. Beat together until smooth
Take your oats and feel how they are the foundation of the spell. Oats and other staple grains were the first forms of currency and represent prosperity in a very real way. Breathe life-force/blue fire into them and feel how they are strong and abundant within themselves. Add them to the dough.
Take the raisins and know that the grapes that they came from are powerful catalysts for prosperity. They are associated with water, bringing depth, happiness, and adaptability to your spell. Raisins, having been dried in the sun, are also associated with fire, so they bring together a powerful alchemical blend of energies that provide balance, stability, power, and strength. Feel how they are a celebratory plant, being associated with the revelries of Bacchus and Dionysus. (And who couldn’t use a good Dionysian Bacchanal about now?) Feel your life-force infusing them with these qualities and add to the dough.
Add the applesauce, knowing that apples provide the qualities of love, peace, fertility, health and happiness –desirable qualities for an abundance spell which is actually much more than just financial prosperity.
Add the ground cloves for love, money, and protection, along with the nutmeg which brings the vision necessary to see opportunities around you. Mix well.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool 1 minute on the cookie sheet before removing to a wire rack.
When finished, choose one cookie from the batch to offer to the land, to the gods, to your ancestors, or to your financial advisor. (It can’t hurt, right?) Take it outside and leave it as an offering with a prayer. Allow the green or gold candle to burn itself out. Extinguish your working candle with a prayer.
Burn the paper and scatter the ashes to the four winds. Spend the quarters as an investment in yourself.
Stop doomscrolling and enjoy you some magical cookies.
