Review: “Psychic Witch” in a deluxe edition that does not disappoint

I got the chance to read an influential book when it first came out five years ago. Coming from an author who had established himself as an expert on the subject, it had all the right factors to become a best-seller. And that it became, thanks to the wisdom shared, the simple language used, the humility of the author, and the expertise he shared without conditions.

Today, I want to talk about the new, expanded edition of this same book: Psychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick & Manifestation (Deluxe Hardcover), by Mat Auryn and forewords by Ivo Dominguez Jr. and Devin Hunter.

One of the Most Important Magickal Voices of a Generation

When Psychic Witch first hit the shelves, Mat Auryn quickly became one of the biggest new voices in the witchcraft community. Now, the book that inspired hundreds of thousands of readers worldwide to awaken their full psychic potential is here in premium hardcover form, featuring a new introduction and a new chapter of seventeen exercises. As the cherry on top, this edition has a foreword by Ivo Dominguez, Jr. in addition to Devin Hunter’s.

As Silver RavenWolf attests, this book is “a definite game-changer for today’s modern practitioner—absolutely a must-have for your personal library!”

Discover how to be a powerful psychic witch with this book on wielding energy and awakening your psychic senses. Psychic Witch explores the relationship between psychic ability and magick, interweaving them to create a strong foundation for accessing the full potential of your mind, body, and spirit.

Mat Auryn reveals some of his most closely guarded tips, secrets, practices, and meditations so that you can master the perception and manipulation of energy. Featuring over ninety exercises and the inner tools you need to perform magick anywhere and at any time, Psychic Witch helps you tune in to yourself and the subtle energies of the world.

I have always been a skeptic when it comes to deluxe editions because they rarely add anything new to the source material. I usually see them as money-grabs aimed at hardcore fans or newcomers to the book who like fancy things. (Don’t get me wrong – I do love me some fancy things from time to time.) However, it is the additional material in this edition of Psychic Witch that made me want to give this book a chance, and it succeeds based on that new material.

The introduction and foreword explore the origins of the book, its impact, and its influence – the dream come true that it represents. They expand on the history of becoming a psychic Witch while also sharing some background about the author. Not only that, it includes a new chapter full of exercises that enhance the reader’s practice. With the simple style that characterizes him, Mat Auryn shares even more tricks and techniques we can use in our everyday lives.

While there are some exercises specifically designed for a Pagan-oriented Witchcraft practice, there are a few that anyone can and could and should use. After so many travels, I see myself as a future fan of the Travel Talaria, while also using the Phoenix Down and Sylvan Spine Connection to help with burnouts, and giving a Witch Blessing to those I care about.

In addition to this, there are quite a few fancy aspects to this edition of the book: a silver foil-embossed cover, rounded corners, two-color interior, matte black edges, a decorative headband, new endpapers, and a ribbon bookmark. I would also say that the pages are of a much higher quality than usual, with a soft texture that feels nice to the touch.

This is a great addition to anyone’s library, because the exercises and ideas do not belong to one single tradition or method. This is a creation that draws (ethical) inspiration from many sources to guide the reader on a journey. It is by no means an exhaustive resource, and of course, it is not perfect either, but it provides a solid starting point to those wanting to enhance their practice while also discovering themselves.

With a simple style and a huge dose of encouragement, Mat Auryn guides the reader into becoming not only a psychic Witch but a Deluxe Psychic Witch with a fancier, gorgeous edition of the book that revolutionized the field. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy the next time that you have the chance.
