2026 Tarot Prospectus

TWH – As we approach the new year, we thought that a 12-month spiritual perspective might provide some helpful guidance for the year ahead. As with the previous years, a different deck was chosen for each month, with one card being selected to provide an overview or basic theme for that month, similar to our Tarot of the Week feature but more broadly applied.

JanuaryMidnight Magic: A Tarot Deck of Mushrooms, by Sara Richard, published by Adams Media, an imprint of Simon and Schuster, Inc.

Card: Seven (7) of Pentacles (Dune Cup)

The beginning month of 2026 has the potential to offer up rewards for doing the work, but also likely to be full of signposts to stay focused on goals while keeping an eye on the horizon. Though incorporating brief periods of respite in order to stay in balance and healthy are also indicated.

In contrast, distractions, self-doubt, and other time sinks have the potential to derail projects and result in unproductive time use. Reducing the number of tasks that could well be assigned to someone else is liable to be key in order to avoid being continually exhausted.

FebruaryAfrican American Tarot, by Jamal R, artwork by Thomas Davis, published by Lo Scarabeo.

Card: Ace of Wands – Omumborombonga (Tree of Life, Nambia)

February is liable to have an emphasis on beginnings that involve new enterprises and creations, or possibly a shift in approaches that offer new inspiration for addressing old issues. There may also be opportunities for reclaiming power that has been inadvertently given away.

Contrarily, while fresh ideas may abound, falling down the rabbit hole, becoming prey to distractions, and not following through with a solid plan is more likely to result in frustration and not produce viability.

March – Wicked Tarot by Casey Gilly, illustrations by Cinthya Álvarez, published by Insight Editions.

Card: Eight (8) of Flowers (Cups)

The third month is apt to hold promises that ultimately end up being something wildly different from what was desired or expected. The ability to recognize when it is time to let go of unrealistic or unattainable situations and move on is likely to be key.

Conversely, refusal to accept the inevitable will not prevent it–only prolong an overall unpleasant process. Choosing to not embrace a new future and path could result in regrets and wondering later on what might have been.

AprilThe Animystic Tarot, Willow Fay, published by REDFeather, Mind, Body Spirit, an imprint of Schiffer Publishing, Ltd.

Card: Nine (9) of Pentacles

April is likely to usher in recognition of individual accomplishments, both in spiritual growth and material rewards. Also highlighted is the personal cost of those achievements–the paths not taken–which may make for a bit of bittersweet reflection.

In contrast, there is the potential for realizing that chasing success every minute of the day has resulted in imbalances. It’s not too late to reset the scales and seek a more balanced approach and life.

MayThe Herbcrafter’s Tarot, artwork by Joanna Powell Colbert, text by Latisha Guthrie, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.

Card: Ten (10) of Water (Cups)

The fifth month may offer a cause to celebrate joy and a new level of serenity that spiritually refreshes and nourishes. The every day small pleasures that inspire, like simply touching earth, or larger events that have the potential to be life-altering may occur this month. Either way, savoring and sharing those moments them could pay unexpected dividends.

Conversely, being out of harmony with oneself and the various environments inhabited could be a wake-up call to re-evaluate any number of life aspects. Focusing on making choices that better reflect personal values is more likely to yield a happier way forward.

JuneCaticorn Tarot, curated by Pamela Chen, artwork by Delphine Dion, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.

Card: Six (6) of Wands

The sixth month is likely to bring public accolades and recognition for a major accomplishment and the major challenges overcome to do so. Accepting the kudos with grace and aplomb is the best approach, and liable to help pave the way to future successes. A boost to self-assurance and confidence is also likely.

Contrarily, letting success go to one’s head could result in fewer opportunities in the future. Additionally, some achievements are more private and are best kept confidential rather than shared.

JulyThe Colorful Tears Tarot, by Rebecca Schoenecker, published by Laughing Eye Weeping Eye Publications.

Card: Six (6) of Matches (Wands)

The seventh month of the year could spur creatives to actively pursue a long-held dream or project. The promise of the 6 of Matches is that the potential for success is high when intentions are clear and unyielding, and the individual is willing to not only accept their own power but to actually use it for good.

Conversely, those who routinely abdicate or give away their power–spiritually or otherwise–are likely to have forgotten how to use it or even reclaim it. This may be equally true for those who have big dreams but never act on them. Successful ideas are only effective if they are actually put into play.

AugustGolden Black Cat Tarot by Helena de Almeida, published by AGM-Urania/Konigsfurt-Urania Verlag GmbH.

Card: Six (6) of Swords

August is liable to provide opportunities to connect with others and exchange ideas that can help being able to perceive new possibilities and ways of accomplishing goals or projects. There is also likely to be an emphasis on rising above the fray in order find more balance, harmony, and even peace on an internal level.

In contrast, holding on to the past and refusing to embrace new encounters and ideas can result in being mired down by outmoded practices. Additionally, there may be unfinished business from the distant or recent past that requires tending to before being able to move forward on a new path.

SeptemberTarot Neocolonial de las Américas, by Patrick McGrath Muñiz, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.

Card: Four (4) of Bastos (Wands/Batons)

The ninth month is apt to offer up elements of homecoming and reunion or a cause for major celebration. There may also be an underlying theme of finding safe harbor or refuge, perhaps after a long journey. Supportive family, biological or chosen, that reinforce being in balance are also likely to figure prominently.

Conversely, holding onto an inner balance and sense of harmony are likely to be key, as shifts and upheaval are possible. Sudden and unexpected changes in work and living situations, as well as conflict involving relationships, have the potential to crop up.

OctoberTrick or Treat Tarot Deck, by Barbara Moore, illustrated by Jonathan Hunt, and published by Llewellyn Publications.

Card: Ace of Wands

October has the potential to bring some positive shifts centered around good fortune and luck. While initially what might seem like a small or even insignificant occurrence, it heralds a much larger and more prosperous future. Pumpkin seeds are small but are extremely successful at propagating–plant ten seeds, get eight or ten plants that will ultimately dominate the space all around them.

Contrarily, failure to fully commit to or actually do the work necessary to achieve goals is unlikely to produce a positive outcome. Investment opportunities that feel unstable or not quite right should be approached with great scrutiny or avoided altogether.

NovemberThis Might Hurt Tarot Deck, by Isabella Rotman, published by STERLING ETHOS, an imprint of Sterling Publishing Co., Inc.

Card: Major Arcana 18 (XVIII) – The Moon

The eleventh month is liable to provide plenty of fodder for fears and anxiety that may have their roots in suppressed memories of past trauma. While the elements of uncertainty and illusion are likely to be a theme and add to a general mix of confusion, the intuition is apt to be very active and should be listened to and taken seriously.

In contrast, the Moon can be a source of inspiration that can help to confront fears head-on. While objects can look different and even deceptive in moonlight, as the moon waxes, providing more light, the nature of things is easier to perceive. And no matter what, the sun will most certainly rise the following morning. Trusting one’s instincts and intuition is likely to be key.

DecemberThe Star Tarot, by Cathy McClelland, published by REDFeather, Mind, Body Spirit, an imprint of Schiffer Publishing, Ltd.

Card: Three (3) of Cups

The final month of the calendar year holds the promise of ending on a positive note with a trifecta of joy, good fortune, and fulfillment. Creative energy has the potential to have a larger influence and help foster relationships built around creating and spiritual crafting. There are also likely to be collaborative successes to celebrate that will be proven to be true over time.

Conversely, it may be time to take a step back and perhaps even take a break if stress levels are high or too much energy is being expended on work. Too many social obligations coupled with extra stressors can result in overindulgence in adult beverages or substances. A word of warning: few, if any, have found actual inspiration at the bottom of a bottle.
