Rt. Rev. Terry Riley, a long-time advocate for Wiccan rights and community service, is leading a new initiative to bring spiritual support to incarcerated individuals.
Rt. Rev. Terry Riley of Aquarian Tabernacle Temple’s Southern Delta Church of Wicca has been through some challenges and despite them, has earned a federal grant to build a garden for their free food pantry.
The Aquarian Tabernacle Church (ATC) announced its award winners last week and report on the recipients and took a moment to spotlight the organization’s work and history.
TWH — Terry Riley, high priest of the Southern Delta Church of Wicca (part of the Aquarian Tabernacle Church), is preparing a Grease ritual for an upcoming new moon. It will be a “special circle” that will have “a double high priest and a double high priestess so we can get both movies in,” Riley says with a chuckle. “We’re planning on using ‘Greased Lightnin’ ’ to raise the cone of power.”
Movies? “Greased Lightnin’,” that John Travolta song? Grease the movie musical and not Greece the birthplace of Aphrodite, Persephone, Hekate and all those classical goddesses and gods?
LAKE CITY, Ark. — Whatever challenges might exist for Pagans living in a Bible Belt, members of the Southern Delta Church of Wicca seem to have overcome them in the tiny community of Lake City. Last month, members of this branch of the Aquarian Tabernacle Church led the local Christmas parade with their float, which depicted halls being decked for Yule. That honor arose from the fact that in 2016, their float took first prize for the same event. Terry Riley, high priest of the church, said that they received an invitation to participate a year ago this past December, and readily agreed.
