Opinion: Elon Musk and the Theology of Empathy

By Karl E. H. Seigfried | March 29, 2025

Just as sane people don’t need to embrace the insanity of the Trumpies, Heathens of positive intent don’t need to take on any of the awfulness of the neo-völkisch haters and their ilk. We can make empathy a central point of what we believe and what we practice.

Ásatrú at the End of the Day

By Karl E. H. Seigfried | February 24, 2024

What does Ásatrú theology have to tell us about end-of-life issues? How does it help us to understand our experiences as we care for those with growing cognitive issues and as we develop those issues ourselves?

Opinion: Greta Thunberg, Misrepresentation, and Ásatrú Climate Change Ethics

By Karl E. H. Seigfried | June 24, 2023

As in the Ziggy Stardust song from more than a half-century ago, we’re simultaneously surrounded by evidence of catastrophic climate change and absolutely unwilling to make the necessary changes to mitigate it.

Tarot of the Week

Tarot of the Week

Deck: Dancing in the Dark Tarot by Gianfranco Pereno and Lunaea Weatherstone, published by Lo Scarabeo.

Card: M12, Knight of Swords

The incoming week is liable to trigger a strong desire to take action despite the number of obstacles or difficulties in order to achieve an important goal. The ability to think clearly and decisively is also a likely requirement. There may also be an emphasis on the ability to communicate exceptionally well in order to better understand the circumstances of an issue and the work necessary to resolve it.

Conversely, feeling frustrated or restless could result in taking a misguided or even rash approach to problem-solving. Additionally, overworking and operating at a breakneck speed are unlikely to yield the desired results. Having a steady focus and goal and not becoming mired down in irrelevant minutiae is perhaps the best advice for staying on track.
