Remembering the Attacks of September 11, 2001
TWH — On the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, The Wild Hunt pauses to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives that day; the brave who stepped forward and not back; the survivors who carry the memory of that day; and the families and communities who still grieve.
Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the courage shown, and the many lives forever changed.
Commemorations marking the anniversary have already begun. On Wednesday night, a drone display illuminated the skies over New York Harbor as part of events marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
The commemorative artwork, titled 2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor, featured one light for each person killed in the attacks, excluding the 19 hijackers. The lights rose over the harbor before forming the outline of the Twin Towers at full architectural scale.
According to organizers, the public art installation was developed in collaboration with members of the 9/11 community, including family members, survivors, and first responders. Unveiled ahead of Friday’s anniversary observances, the free public event was intended as a moment of reflection and unity.
Among those who helped shape the project were Brenda Berkman, an FDNY first responder and artist; Tim Brown, an FDNY first responder in 1993 and 2001; Terry Strada, president of 9/11 Families United and widow of Tom Strada; Jim Smith, whose wife, NYPD Officer Moira Smith, was killed in the attacks; and Genevieve Siller, daughter of firefighter Stephen Siller.
Ahead of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, New York City has released more than 170,000 pages of previously unavailable city records concerning the government’s response, air quality, and health concerns following the attacks. The city also settled two lawsuits brought by 9/11 Health Watch seeking access to related records.
The newly launched public portal includes the frequently cited Harding Memo, records contained in 68 boxes that were not located until 2025 despite previous Freedom of Information Law requests, and documents concerning World Trade Center 7. Additional records are expected to be added over the next 12 months as they are reviewed and personally identifiable information is removed.
“The very least our city owes the families, survivors and first responders whose lives were forever changed by the September 11th attacks is transparency and accountability,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani said in announcing the release. The city has allocated $34 million in its FY27 budget for creation and maintenance of the records portal.
The administration also plans to designate personnel to help people locate records establishing their presence in the New York City Exposure Zone, documentation that may assist those seeking benefits through the World Trade Center Health Program and September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.
Former Rep. Carolyn Maloney, who helped establish the federal health and compensation programs, said the government’s responsibility continues a quarter-century later. “They deserved the truth then, and they deserve the full truth now,” Maloney said. “Government records about September 11th belong to the people of New York.”
For many survivors, first responders, and others directly affected by September 11, remembrance is complicated by the attacks’ lasting mental and physical health effects. The World Trade Center Health Registry, which enrolled more than 71,000 people in 2003 and 2004, has tracked those effects for more than two decades. While many who experienced depression or post-traumatic stress disorder following the attacks recovered, researchers have found persistent symptoms among some survivors, particularly those with greater exposure to the disaster. The World Trade Center Health Program continues to provide medical monitoring and treatment for certified 9/11-related conditions among eligible people affected in New York, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, while also supporting research into the long-term physical and mental health consequences of the attacks.
Circle Sanctuary shared several resources for members of the Pagan community marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. A special rebroadcast of Pagan Voices of 9/11, released this week through the Circle of Nature podcast, features Pagan perspectives and remembrances connected with the attacks and their aftermath. Circle Sanctuary also highlighted Pagans Healing Remembering 9/11, an archive of reflections and personal stories documenting Pagan experiences of September 11 and the years that followed.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Voodoo Spiritual Temple has announced plans for its future following the death of its founder, Priestess Miriam Chamani, saying the Temple will be preserved as she left it while its community continues to mourn and prepare for its reopening.
“For the time being, the New Orleans Voodoo Spiritual Temple will remain exactly as Priestess Miriam assembled, maintained, and left it,” the Temple said in an update. “It will stand as a living shrine to her memory, a place for you to visit, mourn, celebrate, and commemorate the legacy of our beloved Priestess and her decades of work.”
Priestess Miriam’s husband, Priest Allen Papa Gran Bwa Bakavi, who was initiated by her in 2005, is helping guide the Temple through the transition. Priestess Lilith Dorsey, described as a daughter of the Temple for 30 years and a longtime New Orleans resident, will serve as interim Priestess. The Temple noted Dorsey’s extensive knowledge of Miriam’s ceremonies and practices, including weddings, divination, consultations, and recipes.
Temple brother Jorge Lopez is also assisting with the transition, alongside longtime members and supporters Priest Louis Martine and Witchdoctor Utu.
The Temple thanked people around the world for their condolences and support following Priestess Miriam’s death. Additional announcements are expected concerning her services, the Temple’s reopening date, and future hours of operation.
The New Moon is Upon Us!

TWH — Our friend and Witch Susan Levitt shares that the September 10 New Moon in Virgo offers an opportunity to focus on health, organization, work, and service to others. With both the Sun and Moon in the Earth sign of Virgo, Levitt suggests using the lunar cycle to attend to diet and well-being, clear and organize spaces, and bring greater focus to ongoing projects.
The new Moon also begins what Levitt describes in Chinese astrology as the lunar month of the Fire Phoenix, corresponding with Virgo in her system. Although the sign is commonly translated as Rooster or Chicken, Levitt prefers Phoenix for its associations with spirituality and personal transformation. Combined with the Fire element, she sees the month as favoring confidence, leadership, and standing behind one’s convictions.
Levitt also points to a grand Air trine involving Mercury in Libra, Uranus in Gemini, and Pluto in Aquarius, which she interprets as supporting communication, the exchange of ideas, and movement away from outdated systems.
The lunar month leads toward the Autumnal Equinox on September 22, when day and night reach their seasonal point of approximate balance. Levitt describes the coming weeks as a time for “Virgo healing and Phoenix clarity,” with an emphasis on steady action and transformation.
Pharo-Nox Marks Anniversary

ZAMORA, Spain — Spanish-language esoteric magazine Pharo-Nox will mark its first anniversary with the publication of its third issue on September 21, timed to coincide with the Autumnal Equinox.
Published with the support of Spain’s Asociación Cultural Pharo-Nox, the independent magazine explores contemporary Paganism, esoteric thought, occult traditions, philosophy, art, history, psychology, and ritual practice. Its editors describe the publication as a meeting place for academic and historical inquiry alongside lived spiritual practice and original visual art.
A central part of the project is open access. All issues of Pharo-Nox are published digitally in Spanish and made available free of charge through the magazine’s website, with the goal of reaching readers, researchers, and practitioners in Spain, Latin America, and Spanish-speaking communities elsewhere.
The forthcoming Issue #3 is currently in its final layout and typesetting stages ahead of its Equinox release. The anniversary marks a year since the magazine began developing a Spanish-language platform for writers and artists working at the intersections of Paganism, occultism, philosophy, and esoteric culture.
Previous issues are also available through the Pharo-Nox website, with Issue #3 scheduled to become available there upon publication September 21.

EarthSpirit Announces Fall schedule
WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS — The EarthSpirit Community has shared its calendar of rituals and gatherings for the remainder of 2026, beginning with an Autumnal Equinox Ritual and Sacred Land Walk near EarthSpirit’s home in western Massachusetts.
Twilight Covening, EarthSpirit’s annual intensive spiritual retreat, will take place October 9–12 in the Berkshires. The community will return to Glenwood on October 25 for an Ancestor Ritual and Sacred Land Walk from 1 to 5 p.m., including a ritual walk at 1 p.m. and an Ancestor Ritual at 3 p.m.
EarthSpirit’s Samhain Ritual is scheduled for Friday, October 30, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Williamsburg Grange in Williamsburg, Massachusetts. The community will close its 2026 seasonal ritual calendar with its Yule celebration. Specific details below:

This week has a lot of potential when it comes to pursuing long-awaited opportunities for fulfilling hopes and dreams. The time for reclaiming power that has been set aside or worse—given away under duress—could be in the making. Tapping into inner ambition and fire while also trusting one’s intuition or gut is likely to help forge the way forward to success.
Conversely, feeling unfocused, uninspired, or unmotivated is liable to make it more difficult to draw up and execute plans. If there is uncertainty, then it is time to step back and consider what is really and truly desired. Until that question is answered, any actions undertaken could result in spinning in place and have no forward momentum at all.

NORWAY — Norwegian folk-rock band Gåte has released “Mi Jord,” the third single from its forthcoming album, Sigil. The title translates as “My Earth,” and the song continues the band’s blending of Norwegian folk traditions with contemporary rock.
Gåte has become one of Norway’s internationally recognized folk-rock acts, combining traditional musical and lyrical influences with modern instrumentation. The band represented Norway at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest with “Ulveham,” a song drawing on a medieval Scandinavian ballad tradition.
According to promotional materials accompanying the new release, “Mi Jord” serves as an emotional turning point on Sigil, invoking the landscape through currents moving from the south, north, east, and west across land and sea. The accompanying music video has been released through Season of Mist.
