Since posting, the article has gone viral, earning 5,087 comments and attracting the attention of other media outlets and the Pagan online community. “From organizing mass hexes to setting up witch-themed Etsy stores, the feminist movement and witchcraft are becoming increasingly entwined,” observes Breitbart writer Charlie Nash. “The two scenes have become so intertwined that the term ‘witch has even started to become synonymous with ‘feminist.'”

Netflix to give Sabrina the teenage witch a dark fantasy reboot

TWH – Netflix announced in December that it has picked up a new series based on the classic Archie Comics’ character Sabrina, the teenage witch. The new show, as defined by Netflix, will “imagine the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft.” The yet-to-be-named series is riding on the popularity of the new CW series Riverdale, which plunges the famous Archie kids into a dark and more brooding narrative than anything seen before. The CW was originally flirting with a Sabrina companion series; however, Netflix decided to pick it up for two seasons and 20 episodes. Netflix says,”Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.”

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court of the United States heard oral arguments Tuesday for the case Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd., et, al. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, et. al. As noted on the SCOTUSblog, “Lines began forming outside the Supreme Court last week for one of the biggest oral arguments of the year, in the case of a Colorado man who says that requiring him to create custom cakes for same-sex weddings would violate his religious beliefs.” The case is being touted as the biggest and most talked-about of this court term.

TWH – Witchblr, the Tumblr fan community dedicated to Witchcraft, found itself in the site’s top rankings for 2017. Every year, Tumblr produces fandommetrics to illustrate what subjects, communities and memes were most popular with its users over the past year. Witchblr appeared for the first time in the rankings, coming in at the number 11 spot for Tumblr communities. Tumblr is a social media and micro-blogging platform that was launched in 2007 by David Karpe. It is predominantly populated by younger users, with nearly 50% ranging from 16-24 years of age.
