Voices in the Wind: remembering the heroes of Flight 93.

SHANKSVILLE, Penn. — Standing tall in what once was an empty Pennsylvania field lies a new structure containing wind chimes that sing softly into the breeze. The Tower of Voices, as it is called, is the final addition to a national memorial to the passengers and flight crew of Flight 93, who died on September 11, 2001. “We don’t look at the passengers and crew as victims. We look at them as heroes,” Gordon Felt, the brother of one of the passengers and the president of Families of Flight 93, told CBS in a special titled “Wind Chimes for the Silenced.” The concrete structure is heroic in stature, as described by the architect.

“Religious freedom for some” critics say of new DOJ Task Force

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Jeff Sessions has formed the Religious Liberty Task Force to help implement the various legislation and policies that were put into place last year. The task force will be co-chaired by acting Associate Attorney General Jesse Panuccio and Beth Williams, who is the assistant attorney general for the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Policy. At a July 30 meeting on religious freedom this year, Sessions told attendees, “A dangerous movement, undetected by many, is now challenging and eroding our great tradition of religious freedom. Pagan Community Notes: Little Witches Ball, Luark, Alabama and more

DETROIT – While a Witch Ball is not uncommon in October, it is uncommon to find one dedicated to children. Members of Michigan’s Pagan community are doing just that. The Detroit Conjure Folk Magic Festival, together with the Michigan Witches Ball, will be hosting a Halloween party just for kids. Little Witches Ball  Hocus-Pocus, as it is called, will be held in Roseville, Michigan, on October 12 at the American Legion East Detroit. Organizers write, “Merry meet, Little Witches and Pagans of all faiths, this is going to be a blast for the children this Halloween Season.” They also note that they will be serving soft drinks and pizza, and have music for the kids to enjoy.

HexFest 2018 met with protests from Catholic groups

NEW ORLEANS – HexFest 2018 was met with street protests Saturday for the first time in its four year history. Conservative Catholics lined the streets in front of St. Louis Cathedral to join an action coordinated by TFP Student Action, a division of American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property. They held up religious symbols, recited prayers, played bagpipes, and waved signs in protest. One sign read, “Catholics reject satanic HexFest” and another read, “Do not permit Witchcraft and the occult to trample our Catholic heritage.”
