“It’s certainly escalating:” Evangelical Group targets Metaphysical Stores with Coordinated Action

MIAMI – On March 10, 2025, a group of evangelical Christians targeted two metaphysical shops in Orlando, Florida. The group of about 40 individuals targeted Spiral Circle Bookstore and the nearby store, Avalon. The stores are a five-minute walk from one another, just east of the central business district of the city.

The group of evangelical Christians was caught on video and shared on TikTok by @lov.pyschic.circle. The group repeatedly threatened to shut down the businesses. The group was also repeatedly told that they did not have permission to record and were asked to move on, as the businesses are private property.

It didn’t seem to matter, as the group continued singing, with one unidentified member claiming the businesses were “demonic.”

If you missed this the first time, here’s what happened… 40 evangelicals showed up at @Spiral Circle Bookstore trying to take over the space. We locked the doors. They started singing Fire on the Altar—a song rooted in Leviticus, the same book used to justify persecution. One of them even claimed we were ‘demonic’ and said our space would be shut down. But let me be clear: There is nothing they can say or do to separate me from the Creator. This isn’t just history—it’s still happening today. “The group showed up here first, entered the store, and began filming despite being explicitly told NOT TO,” said Miranda Solace, owner of Avalon, in an interview with The Wild Hunt. “Then they went outside and started singing. I’m pretty sure the so-called ‘customer’ they claimed to have converted was actually part of their group—just an actor participating in their video.”

Avalon called 911 for police assistance, but by the time officers arrived—after what Solace described as a long delay—the evangelical group had moved on to Spiral Circle.

“This isn’t the first time we’ve been targeted, but it’s the most coordinated effort we’ve seen,” said Julie Wilder, owner of Spiral Circle Bookstore and former proprietor of Orlando’s beloved Dandelion Communitea Café, which closed several years after her departure. Wilder, also the host of Front Porch Radio on WPRK 91.5 FM and a longtime advocate for local businesses, added, “Their pastor was previously issued a cease-and-desist order for filming on our property without permission. Now, they’ve returned with a larger, more organized approach—traveling 30 miles for what appears to be a proselytizing field trip designed to generate viral spectacle content for profit. We don’t want to publicize their name and give them more attention.”

Solace emphasized that Avalon does not seek conflict. “We don’t like to make a fuss because it just gives these groups the attention they want,” she said. “But this went far beyond what’s normal or acceptable.”

“We promote freedom and don’t want to start a war with extremists,” Solace added.

Nevertheless, sources identified the group as Remnant Revival Outreach Center, based in nearby Sanford, Florida—a group some enthusiastic nonbelievers have sarcastically described as “brave Christian warriors with merch.”

“This isn’t the first time we’ve been visited by ‘Christians’ with cameras,” Solace noted. “But it’s the first time they’ve brought a full-on mob—including children.”

“It’s certainly escalating,” she added.

Both stores have served the Orlando community for decades.

Spiral Circle, celebrating its 50th anniversary in May 2025, has long been a sanctuary for personal development, spiritual exploration, and inclusive dialogue. “We have a large multi-faith wisdom tradition section, including Christianity,” Wilder said. Spiral Circle is Orlando’s oldest bookstore, founded in 1975 and continuously woman-led. To mark its milestone year, the store will host several events: Communitea Manyfestical on March 22, Indie Bookstore Day on April 27, and a Golden Jubilee Anniversary on May 17. The Manyfestical event will also unveil plans for a tea garden expansion inside the bookstore, launching with a crowdfunding campaign.

Avalon, founded 31 years ago, has been a cornerstone for the local Pagan and Wiccan community. “We are the witchy store,” Solace said. Specializing in Pagan and Occult literature, Avalon also offers statues, magical tools, incense, and oils for various spiritual traditions. Solace practices an eclectic Celtic spiritual tradition and has led many rituals as Pagan clergy. These days, however, she takes a quieter path, traveling to places of spiritual significance.

“This isn’t just about one bookstore—it’s part of a larger pattern,” Wilder said in a statement. “We’ve seen book bans, attacks on libraries, and rising religious extremism. Spiral Circle has been a celebrated brave space for five decades, and we are no strangers to extreme religious supremacy. We recognize that this group does not represent all Christians and extend our support to our respectful Christian friends and patrons.”

When asked if everyone at the two stores was safe, Solace reassured, “We’re all fine. Just concerned that this could become more common. Someone unhinged might see the videos these religious extremists put online and decide to escalate beyond just showing up and being rude.”

Both Solace and Wilder urged the community to support their businesses by shopping, attending classes and events, and demonstrating that the freedoms they cherish will not be misrepresented or abused.

For her part, Solace has responded creatively by producing Coexist candles. “We make a lot of our own custom products like that,” she said. “Keeps the mind fresh to be creative.”
