Pagan Music Updates: Heather Dale, Anilah, Omnia, and More!

Occasionally, I get such a flood of Pagan-related music news, that I’m obligated to round them all up in a special music-themed post! So open your ears, and let’s get to it! Pagan-friendly Canadian songstress Heather Dale has launched a new IndieGoGo campaign to fund an Arthurian-themed touring show, DVD, and educational youth program. Quote: “The CELTIC AVALON touring show. A big, gorgeous stage show that musically tells the legend of King Arthur… a story about finding hope & love in tough times.

Pagan Community Notes: Pagan Radio Network, Dan Halloran, Faerieworlds, and More!

Pagan Community Notes is a series focused on news originating from within the Pagan community. Reinforcing the idea that what happens to and within our organizations, groups, and events is news, and news-worthy. My hope is that more individuals, especially those working within Pagan organizations, get into the habit of sharing their news with the world. So let’s get started! After 13 years of operation The Pagan Radio Network, one of the most prominent outlets for Pagan and Pagan-friendly music, shut down suddenly on July 21st.

Returning to The Realm

Today is the start of the Faerieworlds Festival in Eugene, Oregon. Faerieworlds is a weekend-long event that mixes fantasy, art, music, mythic themes, and wild creativity to create something that is truly unique within the world of festival culture. Existing in a liminal space between the “transformational” West Coast festivals, Renaissance (and re-enactment) fairs, and traditional multi-stage music events, Faerieworlds is something that is hard to describe until you experience it for youself. As co-founder Kelly Miller-Lopez said in 2009, Faerieworlds opens “doorways to help people connect with beauty and magic.”

“For the first time ever…OMNIA will be bringing the one and only, pure and uncut PaganFolk to the US!

Quick (Pagan Music) Notes

As you may know, in addition to this blog, I also maintain a weekly ongoing streaming radio show and podcast dedicated to darker streams of Pagan music. So in that spirit, I have a few music-related news items to share with you today. New Album From Omnia: Gothtronic alerts us that European Pagan folk act Omnia have scheduled a new album release, entitled “Wolf Love”, for September. “Dutch pagan folk band Omnia will release their new album ”Wolf Love” at 10.09 through Screaming Banshee records. 2011 will bring the band to many German festival stages.

(Pagan) News of Note

My semi-regular round-up of articles, essays, and opinions of note for discerning Pagans and Heathens.Politics! Litigation! Evangelism! Looks like we need to take a break and explore that heady intersection of fashion and the occult. British lingerie brand Agent Provocateur has unleased its newest collection: “Season of the Witch” (just in time for the Samhain season).”The “Season of the Witch” ad shows a flame-haired high priestess presiding over a disrobed virgin in a sacrificial ceremonial scene. Her raven-haired witches crowd around while semi-disrobed soldiers lie helplessly at their feet.”The photo shoots seem to nod towards a Hellfire Club/Secret Society sort of diabolic decadence.
