Episcopagan Scandal Update

Back in October of 2004 I followed with great interest the story of Glyn Ruppe-Melnyk and her husband W. William Melnyk two Episcopalian ministers who were outed as members of a Druidic group after Glyn Ruppe-Melnyk submitted a rite to the Episcopal Church’s Women’s Ministries website called “A Women’s Eucharist”. Before I touch on the latest news here are a series of links to my coverage.

I never knew that one of my final comments on the issue would turn out to be somewhat prophetic considering the latest news.

“Needless to say, we Pagans would be happy to embrace them both. We need leaders who can inspire and lead as they obviously could.”

Indeed it looks like W. William Melnyk has decided to leave the Episcopal Church and become a Druid Priest in a move that he calls “a joyous occasion”.

W. William Melnyk AKA OakWyse

OakWyse/Melnyk is now the spiritual leader of Llynhydd Grove “a community of seekers committed to the experience of a Druidry of the Heart, and open to the expression of many spiritualities.” His wife Glyn Ruppe-Melnyk has decided to remain an Episcopalian “I am a Christian and have always been a Christian and I do not intend to leave the church”. A devotion I hope the Episcopal Church appreciates.
