Slaveholders, at one time, lost the ability to force others to become slaves. Racists lost the ability to force African Americans to use separate bathrooms. For the oppressor to claim that it is being persecuted against when it loses its ability to oppress others is Rovian Brave New World doublespeak.<br/><br/>The simple solution is for the government to recognize only civil unions for all couples. If religious groups want to only recognize "marriages" between heterosexual couples, or people over four feet tall, or green-eyed brunettes, or whatever, that's fine and I'll defend their right to do it.
