SOme people are closeted primarily because they don't want their families to know--after all, a remote stranger can only do so much, but our loved ones can cut us to the bone. Your private life can be private, without being a secret. Secrets look bad, as if a person has something shameful of illegal to hide.<br/><br/>The more Pagans that come out of the closet, the less discrimination all Pagans will face.<br/><br/>I think our own religious community reinforces the idea that *most* of us need to hide our religion - when most of us don't. Those of us who don't can help those who still do by not hiding and lying about who we are, what we believe, and what we do.<br/><br/>Jews experienced the same things when they came to America.
