I'm a new reader and am very happy to see thoughtful scholarly writing about paganism- especially contextualized like this. I collect rosaries and am so fascinated with them. I won't use them in ritual- as attracted as I am to Mary it feels disrespectful to use pagan prayers with these beads. Indeed. However, I personally see no such thing happening, since to a monotheist just acknowledging that his monotheistic god isn’t the only god around, that other people have a right to worship other Gods, will be considered to be a rejection of his own faith, and be an unacceptable precondition.

The “single god”-intolerance is the very foundation of monotheism, not just a casual attribute that can be discarded.
