But with every lit tree, painted egg and exchanged gift, with every rabbit and cup of wassail, the Christians are celebrating those days in Heathen fashion. Erm, Christians don’t quite have those days…they’ve appropriated them from the Heathen calendar and transposed their own observances onto them. But with every lit tree, painted egg and exchanged gift, with every rabbit and cup of wassail, the Christians are celebrating those days in Heathen fashion. The name, Easter, is derived from the Heathen goddess, Eostre – so while their observances on this day may have something to do with Jesus on some level, they are wishing the happiness of one of our goddesses with every ‘Happy Easter’.
