The Wiccan Wife Swap

The history of modern Paganism in reality television turns another page. It only seems like yesterday that Pagan pop-star Fiona Horne was starring in “Mad Mad House”, then there was the ill-fated (and never-aired) “Welcome To The Neighborhood” which was to feature a Wiccan family. Recently a New-Agey family on “Trading Spouses” caused a Christian mom to completely lose it on national television. Now ABC’s show “Wife Swap” is looking to out-Pagan “Trading Spouses” by featuring a real-live Wiccan Priestess!

“A Wiccan High Priestess whose husband worships the mystical ground she walks on swaps places with a traditional, stay-at-home wife and mother of two whose husband expects his wife to do everything for him.”

The episode airs tonight on ABC and will no doubt delicately handle the religious elements on the show. After all, if we can’t trust sensationalist “reality” programs to accurately portray our faiths to millions of viewers then who can we trust?
