CAIN DA BRETH

Damonica and Samuel Hain
Band Bio:
Cain Da Breth – the name is in old irish and it came to Damonica in her dream. It means approximately “the song of the two sayings”. We prefer calling our musical style “an acoustic doom metal” more than “celtic folk”. The foundation stones of the band are Damonica’s own lyrics and music and Samuel Hain’s conviction that she shouldn’t sing only in the shower. And also our friends who forced us to make a gig. The first was in the autumn of 2003. Now we have three members and we play usually in Prague and surroundings in pubs and clubs. We have recorded a demo consisiting of three songs and currently looking for a manager and support.

My Two Cents:
Cain Da Breth sound like their picture. That for me is a high compliment. Often bands will have impressive or beautiful images but a lackluster sound that doesn’t live up to what the mind imagines the music will be like. In this case the lush, haunting sound of Cain Da Breth evokes perfectly the romantic and intimate picture. Cain Da Breth comprise yet one more band in a wave of amazing European bands (Moon and The Nightspirit, Corvus Corax, Faun, Omnia, Demonia Nymphe) that are bringing a new old-world sensibility to the world of modern Pagan music. That this band isn’t represented by a label yet is a major crime!
