But I do agree that there is something interesting going on in the American spiritual landscape that is worth reporting (Sharlet's excellent critique notwithstanding), and that the Newsweek article is pointing at, even if it does so poorly. (Furthermore, I think on some level the Newsweek article is *contributing* to the collective perception that there is some kind of "spiritual, but not religious" social phenomenon...) Just my $.02.
