The Polls Are In

Ellison Research has released data on a poll conducted for Facts and Trends Magazine (a Southern Baptist clergy resource) about clergy attitudes towards the seperation of Church and State. “The study was conducted in all 50 states, using a representative sample of pastors from all Protestant denominations. Respondents? geography, church size, and denomination were carefully tracked to ensure appropriate representation and accuracy.” Not surprisingly most (78%) thought the seperation of Church and State “has gone too far, or in ways it was never intended to go “. Of particular interest are these questions.

“Religious displays from any religion (whether it?s Christianity, Hare Krishna, Wicca, or anything else) should be allowed on government property” of which only 12% of Protestant clergy agree with.

Meanwhile 37% of Protestant clegy felt that “Christian displays should be allowed on government property, but not those of any other religion”.

Some food for thought.
