Yesterday I picked up Warrior Queen and Disinformation: The Complete Series. I have not yet watched the Disinfo stuff yet, but I look forward to checking it out and giving a review of it here. I did however sit back with the family and watch “Warrior Queen” which stars Alex Kingston of ER fame. I have to say that I am a sucker for any film that promises pagan overtones so I was keeping a wide open mind, I mean I watched all of The Druids starring Christopher Lambert (of Highlander fame) despite all warnings. So how was it? Not so great. The script seemed alright, but the “Druids” in the film were quite bad, they fudge history often and the Celts portrayed in their war gear looked more like dancers in a MTV video than Iron-age tribal warrior. The acting was over-the-top and often strayed into hysterics, we found ourselves making fun of and laughing at the movie at several points which isn’t a good sign. Plus they didn’t remove the “Masterpiece Theatre” branding from the film so it kept popping up and distracting us from the movie itself. So I can’t recommend it anyone except die-hard enthusiasts, instead I would tell people to read the original.
