Unleash the Hounds! (Link Roundup)

Jason Pitzl-Waters —  January 29, 2012 — 2 Comments

There are lots of articles and essays of interest to modern Pagans out there, sometimes more than I can write about in-depth in any given week. So The Wild Hunt must unleash the hounds in order to round them all up.

That’s it for now! Feel free to discuss any of these links in the comments, some of these I may expand into longer posts as needed.

    Virius Lupus writes:

“[…T]here is a very big difference between making information available and accessible via various means (including internet sites like Patheos.com!), advertising, and the act of proselytizing—though, too often, the first two are mistaken for the latter (and, very often, by people in mainstream religions!).”

People who are comfortable with the word and act of proselityzing will gladly include the first two in its scope. I don’t think this a distinction we need worry about. If one wants to be known as someone who advances hir own religion whilst respecting others’, one needs to do it, not find the proper label for it.

I’m not dismissing Virius Lupus’s core concern; quite the opposite. Equal treatment of the Queer by the Pagan community demands that the former can find out at any age that there’s religion that embraces their spirit just as it is. This concern can, in the age of the internet, be institutionalized almost as a pure act of Will.

I’m so sad to hear of De-Anna Alba’s passing. I remember well meeting her, being part of workshops lead by her, and reading her book and contributions to “Solitary” zine back in the days before the Web. Rest in the arms of the Goddess, wise priestess, you shall be missed.
